The due date for your project is in two hours. Your inbox shows 352 unread mails. Your child is sick (since last Wednesday!) and your home looks like a dump.
Nowadays your brain is faced with a flood of information, stressful moments and a lot of time pressure.: It’s hard to calm down and relax enough to get new energy for both your body and your brain.
A stressful life over a few weeks or even over years can be very dangerous. Raised levels of cortisol for prolonged periods can damp down your immune system and is able to decrease the number of brain cells which has a negative effect on your memory function. It can also affect your blood pressure and you’re more susceptible for a heart attack or stroke.
Just take a few minutes to read the following very simple tips which will help you to relax your mind every day and improve both your work and your life.
1. Fight your anger: Drink green tea
Instead of getting red in your face because of your anger, try getting green by drinking some green tea. It contains L-Theanine, a chemical that helps relieve anger. So, boil some water and take 10 minutes to calm down and feel better.
2. It’s ok: Eat some chocolate
But only a square, not the whole bar! And it has to be dark chocolate. It regulates levels of the stress hormone cortisol, stabilizes metabolism and can help you to relax your nerves.

3. Probably the easiest method: Breathing
There’s no easiest way to relax and you can can do it anytime and anywhere. Deep breaths will help you getting a lower blood pressure and heart rate. And it’s also a great method to fight your stage fright if you do it a few minutes before you start with your presentation.
4. No masseuse in sight? Do it on your own
Give yourself a hand massage for instant relaxation to give your pounding heart the chance to calm down. Especially for people who type often on keyboards, a hand massage is a good method to relieve stress in the shoulders, neck, scalp and, of course, your mind.
5. It’s time to be alone
Give your mind the opportunity to collect your thoughts and clear your head. Be alone every day for some minutes and enjoy it.
6. Get out of the darkness: Step into the light
Don’t spend the whole day in your office or your home. Especially on sunny days. Get out and use the bright light to fight against depression and to get Vitamin D – also known as the “sunshine vitamine” – for an improvement in bone health, mortality and for getting good mood!
7. New energy in 20 minutes: Take a quick nap
One of the most effective methods – we speak from experience – to reload your mind is to have a quick nap every day. It can feel like a mini-vacation But be careful: Anything over 30 minutes takes you into deep sleep, and makes you groggy.
8. Friends for a lifetime
Remember these great moments with your friends and create a lot more in the future. Spend some times with your friends or your love and you forget all your sorrows.
